Metcor Group awarded the Armed Forces Covenant, Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
We are delighted to announce that Metcor Group has achieved silver status under the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, a recognition that reflects our long-term commitment to supporting the armed forces community.
A milestone worth celebrating
The award marks a significant milestone in a journey that began in 2021, when Metcor first committed to supporting the Armed Forces Covenant across the business. As the group continues to grow, our ambition grows with it, and achieving Gold recognition in the future is very much part of that picture.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) recognises employers, who actively demonstrate their support for veterans, reservists, and the wider armed forces community through their policies, culture, and everyday working practices. Silver status requires organisations to evidence tangible action, not just good intentions.

Our commitment in practice
Achieving Silver status reflects work that has taken place across the business, by Paul Watts, Managing Director Metcor Electrical and Teresa Lowers, Group HR Manager. Paul brings first-hand understanding of the armed forces to his role at Metcor, having served as an Electrical Aeronautical Engineer in the Royal Air Force. He reflects that this informs the way he thinks about the value that people from a forces background can bring to a business like ours. “As a veteran, signing the Armed Forces Covenant is deeply personal. At Metcor, it reinforces our commitment to supporting those who have served by recognising the skills, discipline, and resilience they bring to our teams and operations. It’s not just a pledge, it’s a promise to honour their service in everything we do.”
We have clear, practical policies in place that make Metcor a Forces-friendly employer, and we publicise those policies internally, at career fairs and local reservist meetings.
We support reservists in our workforce by providing additional leave to meet their training commitments, and we work with individuals to accommodate requirements that go beyond that. For Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, we offer flexibility so they can fulfil their volunteering role alongside their work. And in our recruitment and selection processes, we are committed to making sure that members of the armed forces community are never unfairly disadvantaged. Their skills, discipline, and experience are things we actively look for.
